Sarah Chaplin (Research)

Sarah is a qualified architect, a CABE enabler and a published author of many books and articles on urbanism and cities. As a partner of her own firm, evolver, she has been a consultant with JTP since the early 1990s, working on community planning projects, as well as writing and editing articles and fostering new ideas for the practice.

She is currently developing JTP Cities as a research-led consultancy within JTP, offering services to developers engaged in innovative urban projects. She was until recently Deputy Director of the Urban Renaissance Institute, and before that was a Professor at Kingston University where she was head of the School of Architecture and Landscape for 6 years. Her background in academia and her extensive experience as a researcher and as a national Research Assessor in the built environment field for the UK Government in 2008, combined with her experience as a Board Director of The Academy of Urbanism, bring a new dimension to the practice's profile.
