We are pleased to announce John Thompson & Partners' Suzhou Eco-town project in China received an Honourable Mention in the Concept Category at the Green Dot Awards.
The Green Dot Awards mission is to recognize outstanding products and services which are manufactured and delivered in an environmentally friendly manner with the Concept Category focused upon ‘environmental innovators with a revolutionary business proposal or plan'.
The overall aim of the Suzhou Eco-town project was to create a balanced eco-system which would encourage long-term, sustainable, human habitation in harmony with the physical environment.
JTP has a wide range of urban design and environmentally conscious design experience, and has worked on a number of projects in Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. The Suzhou Eco-town has provided an excellent opportunity for building upon both of this experience to create a ground-breaking exemplar project which would set the benchmark for projects elsewhere.
The success of the project has further been recognised by the Deputy Mayor of Suzhou and the Suzhou west District Eco-town Development Department acknowledgment "... this eco-town will be an exemplar - the benchmark for the wider area - it will have the highest value".
