[ Back ]Partner Charles Campion is today at the Abergavenny Food Festival Conference
16/09/2011
I am really looking forward to the conference today. It's always good to be in Abergavenny and the Food Festival makes the perfect excuse. This is my second time at the conference (I came last year) and it's wonderful to learn about the different ways people are making real impacts on their places and communities through food related initiatives.
Chris Jones from Miller Research http://www.miller-research.co.uk/ is the reason I am here. 14 years ago as a young planner working for Monmouthshire County Council Chris worked with us to deliver community-led Visions in Monmouth, Chepstow and Abergavenny. Chris came to our London studio recently and told us that the projects were the impetus behind significant change and a realisation in each town of the importance of placemaking. I will be interested to see one of the resultant projects - the recently regenerated Brewers Yard behind the market hall in Abergavenny - thronged with people and stalls through this busy weekend. Now at Miller Research Chris works on a range of projects around the country, including organising this excellent Food Festival Conference.
The conference line up this year look really interesting and relevant and I will be particularly interested to hear Kate Bull from the People's Supermarket as I am involved in a similar project where I live in West London.
