Purley Public Realm Improvements Exhibition: Updated 21 June 2010
Friday 18th June and Saturday 19th June
No. 5 Purley Parade, High Street, Purley CR8 2AB
Around 200 people attended the Purley Town Centre Public Realm Exhibition to view and comment on proposals for improvements including new paving, new trees and landscaping, and the creation of a new square at Purley Parade. The investment has resulted from the Purley Town Centre Community Planning Weekend facilitated by JTP in 2008 where a key community and business aspirations was for significant improvements in the quality of the streets and spaces in the town. Over £2million funding has been secured from Transport for London and work is expected to start in October this year.
You can view the exhibition in the PDF's located in the right-hand side.
Background
The Purley Public Realm improvements follow on from some of the ideas that were developed at the Community Planning Weekend in July 2008 where the Vision for Purley was created. The proposed improvements to Purley High Street, Purley Parade and the area around Purley Station Approach include new paving to the footway, street trees and landscaping, signage, the removal of the recycling facility and the creation of a new square at Purley Parade. Funding has been obtained from Transport for London and the works are proposed to start in October of this year.
Purley Public Realm Improvements Exhibition has been organised by John Thompson & Partners Architects in conjunction with and on behalf of Croydon Council.
